Once upon a time forty-five girls from Duquesne University decided to found a new sorority. These girls are now known as the founding sisters of the Kappa Xi chapter of Delta Zeta. The Kappa Xi chapter was colonized on May 17th, 1969. In The Seventies, the Kappa Xi Chapter of Delta Zeta eventually disappeared on Duquesne Campus.
In 1986 a group of twenty-four girls decided to colonize a sorority. They were temporarily recognized as Delta Zeta Phi on March 31, 1986 and officially recognized as Delta Zeta Phi on September 12, 1986. Exactly one and a half years later, on March 12, 1988, they were officially recognized as Delta Zeta and they were charted as a colony of Delta Zeta on October 9, 1987.
These twenty-four girls along with the fall pledge class of 1987 and the spring pledge class of 1988 went through Delta Zeta pledging from October 9, 1987 through December 6, 1987. These forty-two girls are known as the recolonizing sisters of our chapter.
